The Prince George’s Arts Council operates an effective competitive merit-based grants program that supports:
- innovative artistic and creative expression
- organizational capacity building
- arts and learning
- artistic and creative growth and development
The grant program is designed to:
- foster excellence in the arts
- strengthen organizational capacity
- encourage individual artistic growth and creative expression
- support innovation in arts education

Please be aware of the following issues as you prepare your submission.
- There is one grant cycle for each grant program in FY 2010.
- PGAC no longer offers general operating grants to organizations.
- Applicants (Individuals, Organizations, Schools) are restricted to ONE submission per fiscal year.
- Organizations must be incorporated in Maryland as not for profit, 501 (c) (3) entities prior to submitting a PGAC application and must have received confirmed tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service.
- Units of colleges, universities and municipal governments are also eligible to apply.
- A copy of the IRS letter confirming tax exempt status must be included with your application. Please include a copy of the latest completed an IRS Form 990.
- A current list of the members of your board of directors must be included with your application.
- Organizations based in Prince George’s County may apply in all categories.
- Organizational grants require 1:1 matching funds. In-kind contributions cannot be used for the match.
- Grants to individual artists are restricted to those who can show evidence of at least two years of work in their respective discipline as well as two years of residency in Prince George’s County.
The Prince George’s Arts Council funds cannot be used for:
- Profit-making activities
- The retirement of existing debts
- Capital improvements, construction or renovation
- Projects designed to solely satisfy graduate school academic requirements
- The purchase of non-project related equipment or project equipment costing more than $500
- Political activities
- Religious services or instruction
